After Brake Safety Week: Turn Inspection Lessons Into Daily Habits
Brake-system attention should continue after an enforcement campaign ends, with defects routed promptly to qualified maintenance personnel.
Watch for warning signs
Air loss, pulling, unusual noise, odor, heat, warning indicators, or changed pedal response require immediate attention under company procedures.
Inspect the complete system
Drivers should check visible hoses, chambers, drums or discs, slack adjusters where applicable, air pressure behavior, and required warning devices.
Do not normalize defects
Repeatedly topping up air or adjusting driving style around a known problem is not a repair. Report the defect and confirm disposition before operation.
